So how does this work, doesn't it mean you would have to take note of any movements made for each shot? Without know which part of the image circle was captured, how could you correct it.

BTW here's an English translation http://www.pressebox.com/pressemeldungen/j...xid-311499.html

yes, either note it or shoot a white plate after each shot/series with the same settings. The Plugin is actually a bit useless as you can correct color cast and light falloff based on a white plate shot on layers in Photoshop quite easy. If you use a raw software that provides these correction tools (actually all MF softwares do) you don't need a plugin like that at all.

I wonder if the 43XL will replace the 47XL?

Sounds like a really great lens and can not wait to see images shot with it, likewise with the new 28 as well.  Now they just need to upgrade their 35 mm.

If anyone has any images taken with this, would really appreciate seeing them.

The Schneider Apo-Digitar 35XL is one hell of a great lens, very high resolution, allmost no distortion, good image circle @ 90mm, so please elaborate what needs to be upgrated.

Huh, I tested that Schneider 35 and only found it to be marginally better than the Rodie Apo-S Digi.  Both showing softness at about 8mm of shift on a P45+.

Have you gotten better out of yours?

I did not mean it like that, yes it is a damn good lens from what I have seen.  It is just that they are rethinking their 28 mm and 43 mm in response to Rodenstock's HR series.  I would expect that they are looking at their 35 mm as well just to keep innovation going and continuing to progress, what we would expect any good company to do.

I was just thinking out loud about how they could make better an already good lens and did not do a good job communicating that.

Also, every company, no matter what kind of business, always needs to keep innovation moving forward no matter how much better of a product they think they have or they are doomed to fall.  Happens a lot and being that I prefer symmetrical focus lenses over retrofocal lenses, I would not want to see that happen to Schneider.

Yes, much better, but then I'm using a plate camera and not a rail camera.

I understand performing this correction in Capture One, for example, but you seem to imply that with a 'white plate' correction file and Photoshop
layers one could bypass the raw converter.
How would one do this?  I ask because I've just picked up a Leica M8 and am suffering with a combination of magenta/green variance across the frame with
wide lenses and no combination of Leica coding/correction solves the problem.
If there was a process, outside of the raw converter, where I could take a white plate exposure and apply it to the M8 file then I would
be grateful.

Thx,
Mark

Shoot a white plexi plate (see: "lens cast calibration") with the same aperture and focussing as the actual image.

- Process capture as a TIF
- Process LCC shot with the same settings (white balance, icc profile) as a TIF.

To correct color shift:

- Open the capture in Photoshop
- Add a second layer, mode overlay, select "fill with 50% grey", set layer back to mode "normal"
- Add the LCC shot on a third layer, set layer to mode "color"
- Merge 2nd and 3rd layer on a fourth layer, invert, set to overlay
- Delete (or turn off) layer 2+3

Much appreciated tho_mas.

Will give that a try tomorrow to see if it sorts out some color cast on the M8

I received this from Schneider without any note about nondisclosure.
So I think it's okay to make it available here:

not that I know of. It's actually a revision of or an addition to the 47XL to improve corner sharpness and light falloff (still in 110mm image circle!).... at least that's what I was told.
