Canon 199A Speedlight - fired remotely?

I have an old legacy Canon 199A Speedlight. I would like to use it off camera. My question is whether it can be triggered optically. It also has a "pc connector" (female) - can modern PC cords be used with the 199A to connect pocket wizards or "Ebay radio equivalents"? Thanks

I would suggest you hit up the strobist.com fourms for the best answer, however, here's my two cents:

-Be careful hooking it up to your current gear if its an older unit, it may be of high enough voltage to fry whatever you are using now.  Check that out first.

-You can buy cheapo optical slaves and use them to fire just about any flash but they are not always reliable.
