In the UK, it can obviously be a problem if things are stolen for an unlocked vehicle,  even if it happens when unloading items and taking several trips into a building.  It can also be a problem if the stolen item(s) were visible in the vehicle.  Items should be in the boot/trunk or if in an SUV under the roll out/drop down cover over the luggage area.

I have a policy through Hill & Usher called "Package Choice, aimed at photographers, underwritten by The Hartford, which is an "all-risk" policy. It covers equipment insurance, liability, client merchandise, etc. It's not cheap, depending on what you want covered. A number of years ago, I was at a location with a swimming pool. I was lining up possible next shots (fortunately NOT with my camera), but using my fingers as a general guide. The pool had a very irregular shape, and I backed up right off the ledge into the water. It trashed my iPhone. They covered not only the replacement of the phone, but also the upgrade to the latest model.
