Photographic links of possible interest.
« on: September 17, 2024, 03:31:43 pm »

Was a time, not so long ago, where there existed a slot where one could place links to interesting videos etc. that members felt could be of value to others here.

I’m too old to spend time doing deep dives into either menus or historical researches, so I figured the more efficient route lay in starting a new such space.

This link is to a lady who, were she a musician, would be recognised for having a lot of soul. Not my genre, this track she follows, but done so well, it captivates me every time I watch it. Which I do, often.

For those of us who remember Peter Lindbergh, what he did, how he was one of the few who just got better and better as he grew older, take a look at this music video.

It has nothing to do with PL directly, but if you know his look, you can only realise that his influence, his sense of black/white tonality, has spread widely.

Those close-ups (straight on) confirm for me that my choice of a 135mm lens to go as first lens for my Exakta Varex, all those decades ago, was the right one: headshots tell emotional stories better than anything else. Thing is, you need a face that is capable of telling those stories in the first place. Always a hitch…

Incidentally, at 1.06 and for a couple of moments on, you get a perfect example of a Deborah Turbeville wall and attitude.

Probably not new to many, but if it is, provides a snapshot of many different photographers and associated people.

For those with a memory that touches the 70s fashion scene in Britain. You know, before Photoshop and plastic sirens?
