X-t5 sensor too much for 18-55 zoom?
« on: May 28, 2024, 03:18:20 pm »

Hello, I want a bigger brighter Fuji viewfinder and I’m satisfied that the x-t5 will provide. I won’t be able to afford new lenses if I make this move and I’m wondering about your experiences with the 18-55 and the 40 megapixel sensor. There is discussion aplenty and a wide array of opinion across the web about using the x-t5 with the older 18-55. Could I expect that my results would at least match the performance of the 18-55 on the x-s1? Thank you. Peter

There is a lot of nonsense written about lenses not being compatible with the 40mp sensor. In any system the resolution is determined by the sum of all the components in the imaging chain. Of course, a higher resolution lens will perform better, but an18-55 combined with the 40mp sensor will give better results than it did with the 26mp sensor. I have one of those lenses and a Fuji X-T5.  It will outperform your X-S1 with ease.
