Z3200PS not booting up:(
« on: August 27, 2021, 07:24:08 pm »

I had a thunder storm blow thru today so I powered down the printer in case of a power failure.
After it passed I restarted it and the front screen lit up and after about 30 seconds it sent out a series of 5 beeps after which the front screen remains white.  I replaced the battery on the formater board just in case but that didn't help.
Is there a way I can force a file system check?

My guess is a defective filesystem or whole disk is dead. If you get a 160gb sata disk or SSD I can help you get it back. You will need to use some PC and a bootable Linux USB stick.

Was the printer unplugged?

Yes.
It was unplugged durring the storm.
After the storm I plugged it in and restarted.
The first re-start the printer just gave out a loud constant beep.  After a few moments I switched it off, unplugged and waited about ten minutes.
Next attempt and it gave the familiar first beep and after a moment it gave out 5 distinct beeps of about 1 second each.
The screen is lit up but blank and the printer does nothing.
It sits un plugged over night and in the morning an attempt to start yields the same results.

Was everything unplugged, including ethernet and usb?  If not, unplug EVERYTHING and wait a while before retrying.  Probably won't help, but I had a pc that latched up, only giving beep code.  It was latched up, unplugging power didn't help, had to also unplug ethernet before it returned to normal.  Turned out the power supply detected a fault (usb temporary short) and locked up to prevent damage.  Ethernet cable actually provides power, caused supply to stay locked until unplugged.

Also run down beep codes for your printer, should indicate fault of some sort.

Everything was unplugged and paper was unloaded.

So far I am not able to find blank screen issues in the manual.

I downloaded the pdf file and did a search on "blank", came up with a small section on page 2-9.

Thanks Richard,

I saw that.

It's looking like I'm going to need either or both a formater board and Logic board.

This printer was exposed to power failures 3 times in August so I'm not surprised to see potential electrical damage.

There's a local support company that has a Rev B machine who has offered to swap for $1K.

I'm seriously considering his offer.

it.
