I am the original owner. Tripod shows some nicks in paint, legs very clean, legs lock well, rubber sleeves tight on locking collets. Tripod basically operates as new.
The Markins tripod base stiffens the Gitzo base plate. The tripod base threads onto the Gitzo rapid column plate and has a spring loaded hook on the bottom. The Markins spikes anchor the tripod better to any outdoor soft surface. The combo of both provide the stiffest, most stable configuration you can get from this tripod.
