I don't read enough about Trump's current trial details to say anything useful about it, but superficially it doesn't seem that he hires very good lawyers. You'd think he had enough money to hire good ones.

I did see part of one FOX report on youtube about how the poor guy is being forced to sit in a very cold courtroom. I didn't watch the entire clip, but I wondered if they were worried about all the other people in the courtroom. Wasn't it cold for them?

The saddest reports are about his flatulence. There's no way for me to know if that's real or not, but the reporting is dumb, although it must be good material for comedians.

There don't seem to be members of his family in attendance, am I wrong?

It seems to me that the important legal case is the one about Presidential immunity at the supreme court. If they uphold it, it will be in keeping with the presidential powers of pardon and won't do much for respect for the law. Has that ship already sailed though?

Former president Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that his ongoing hush money trial constitutes "election interference," by preventing him from connecting with voters, and so, the Republican presidential nominee spent his one day off from court diligently campaigning.
Just kidding, Trump actually went golfing.
A not-so aggrieved Trump spent his Wednesday puttering around at the Bedminster Golf Club, sources told CNN.

So Texas passes a law protecting "free speech" on campuses, as if it were needed, and then the governor proclaims that protesters belong in "jail". Sounds like a quote from an old B western, "We'll give him a fair trial and hang him in the morning."

South Dakota Governor shoots puppy https://www.theguardian.com/books/2024/apr/26/trump-kristi-noem-shot-dog-and-goat-book. What I find most interesting about this is that she went out of her way to include the story in her book.

I know nothing about training hunting dogs, but I would never have thought that killing it would help much with its training.

Joe's dog bite bit US Secret Service agents on at least 24 occasions, yet Joe didn't shoot him in the head once.  ;)

I saw a short clip of some committee hearing where Marjorie Taylor Green talked about "turbo cancer" so I looked it up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_cancer. I do know that it's generally recommended to use synthetic oil if your car's engine is equipped with a turbocharger, as the engine oil is used to lubricate the very high rpm turbocharger bearings. Is that what she meant?

Funniest thing I've read lately about why the religious right continue to support Trump, they admire his "masculinity and power" https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/05/07/stormy-daniels-donald-trump-evangelical-appeal-00156488. There might be too many analysts.

But Biden's age....

Today: Trump gets Barron's age wrong when asked about his youngest son's convention role In an interview with Telemundo 51, Trump offered that Barron, who turned 18 in March, is 17 years old. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-gets-barrons-age-wrong-asked-youngest-sons-convention-role-rcna151596
Quote
"He's pretty young, I will say. He's 17," Trump said in an interview with Telemundo 51 of Miami. "But if they can do that, I'm all for it."

Funniest thing I saw this week was a short video I saw online where a series of nitwits repeated Trump's claim that Biden was out to assassinate him. It's SOP for Trump to make preposterous claims, but watching those other clowns repeat the nonsense so earnestly was hilarious. I don't have a link but it can't be hard to find.

The second funniest thing (20 min video) I watched was Patrick Boyle's commentary about how many of Forbes's darlings end up in jail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V36kSqwjaaw.

Public schools closing in Florida, https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/26/desantis-florida-school-closures-00159926.

Have any school boards been taken over by private equity firms yet? I saw an article recently about how they're buying up veterinary businesses. They're buying up medical practices and veterinary practices, schools might be the natural next step. I'm sure this be good for citizens.

Here's a plot for any dystopian novelist: Corporations tailor their medical practices to impoverish families, followed by schools that stream candidates for later entry into private prisons. Cradle to grave coverage.

This is how Florida schools will prevent indoctrination of students https://popular.info/p/florida-civics-training-links-cancel.

Why the paranoia about "communism", is it the 1950s again? It's just moral panic after moral panic.

I thought this story about the Texas shooter's pardon was interesting https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/24/daniel-perry-pardon-texas.

The part that I found most interesting was that the guy who was shot was open-carrying, legal in Texas, but the reports that I have seen all say that he never unholstered or threatened the shooter who was in his car. But the shooter felt threatened anyway so that seems to fall under some "stand your ground" logic.

What's really interesting to me about this exchange is this. One of the reasons, if not the main reason, for permitting open-carry is as self-defense. But having a holstered gun didn't help that protester much, did it? He wasn't able to defend himself. However, it sounds like the presence of his holstered weapon was used, in part anyway, to explain the fear for the safety that the shooter claims to have felt.

The irony is head-spinning. The protester was open-carrying a gun, presumably for HIS own safety, but the fact that he was carrying is what threatened the other person.

It's one thing for politicians to make fool's of themselves, nothing new there. But I expect more from a supreme court justice. Alito's blaming his wife for the flag thing is barely a step up from blaming the dog for eating your homework. I mean, come on.

OK, so he's pussy whipped.
But let's get down to the real good news: Trump was convicted on ALL 34 counts.

The appeals will start soon, I suppose.

The appeals can start after sentencing on July 11th. That will not change the fact that Mr. Trump is the first US president to be convicted as a felon.
When the Documents case goes to court, he will certainly end up in prison.
