But Joe you are still hiding in your house. You've even indicated you were getting tired of staying shut. So again...do you hide in your house during  the seasonal flu?

I find many like you...all this big talk behind the net...but no action. No protesting...just yakity yak all day long. As far as being disrespectful...I saw that long ago in you...but that's just you I guess.

I dont know where you keep on getting this idea from.

I dont know if you have moved beyond desktop computers, but the world now has smart phones, iPads, etc.  You can stay connected on the go.

Well Joe if you'd come within 6' of me...you'd get the but end of my walking stick up your nose. You can live your life however you like...but just stay away from others that choose to live their life with some respect and care.

All fine by me Chez, just knock it off with being a petty tyrant and let people go out.

If you want to rot away in your house, by all means,  have at  it.  I'm not.

Mission accomplished.

US Vice-President Mike Pence has said the White House coronavirus task force could be disbanded this month because of the country's "tremendous progress"

Who cares? Wet markets or the lab, it came from China.
The issue is not whether it came from a lab or from the meat market.  The issue is China lied about the nature off it for at least 6 weeks.  So other nations did not understand the severity and didn't prepare for the possible consequences.  That's where they were negligent.

And once it was disclosed...some nations still did not understand the severity of it and treated it like "something that will magically just go away".

It sounds like you want to be China's defense counsel when they get sued.

Actually Joe, just got in from planting part of my garden. Sitting on my deck with a nice mojito. Mint is one of the first things to raise its head after the winter. I took my dog out twice today, once to a ball field and hit some balls for him and once for a walk around a nature trail.

So no I don't lock myself inside...but I am also careful and respectful of others when I venture out. If a place requires me to wear a mask, I will. If a place tells me to order my food over the phone and pick it up curb side, I will. If the grocery store limits the number of people allowed in at one time, I'll wait.

I feel these minor inconveniences to be petty compared to the battle others take on when infected by the virus. We visit my mother-in-law through glass a couple times a week. She's in a full time care home. If you think your Liberty has been taken away...maybe you should visit a care home and look through the glass at some of the most at risk people as they ask you "when can I go home".

I am not hiding in my house, but my doctor and dentist are.
Hospitals are postponing critical diagnosis and cancer treatments, and many unfortunate patients are dying.

I am not advocating opening of bars, tattoo parlors and spectator sport events, but allowing the doctors to see their patients may actually save lives.

Let's do a victory lap. Job well done. Projected over 100,000 dead and economy in the sewer...medals for everyone.

What a crock of shit.

Every country got the news of the virus at the same time. Some took it serious and acted on it immediately. Others thought "magic dust" would make it go away..."we've got it well under control".

How is that any different from what I've been doing? With the exception of wearing a mask - I simply do not go inside such establishments. I do have masks, just in case that I absolutely have to go somewhere and there is no other way.  But that hasn't happened yet.

I've kept social distance all my life with strangers, long before it was "fashionable" I never liked when someone is breathing down my neck or violates my space (there are people, like Joe Biden, who have no sense of someone's space and come awkwardly close when talking... or sniffing). With friends, however, I like to exchange a hug, handshake, high five, shoulder bump. I can live with an elbow bump for a short while, but not as a "new normal."

Why!? When masks are such a cool thing!?

Asking everyone to wear one for an off-chance that someone, somewhere, among the millions around you, might actually cough directly into your face, is the same as asking every man, under a threat of jail, to wear a condom every time because someone, somewhere might have HIV.

About the mime attached to this post: you pull out a meme from the internet as a scientific proof!? A meme where someone pulled those percentages out of their ass as a scientific proof!?

When you don't know what you are talking about, you shouldn't! A lesson made clear by Trump but you don't want to learn it.

That meme is to show you roughly the benefit of wearing the masks, don't get stuck in the exact percentages.
Please familiarize yourself how this virus transmits, you should have gotten a clue from your own person. Did anybody coughed in your face? This is not the most common way, and it's been described many times here or elsewhere but it's been like water on a duck's back. You spit when you talk among other things; when you cough it get's on object from where you can get it, sometimes quite far from the infectious person. What the mask does is limiting the spread of infectious particles from the infectious people. It limits a little your risk of taking it, but that's not the main goal. Although if you are disciplined it's a very good reminder of not to touch your face.
Comparing a mask with a condom is so far fetched that it shows again you didn't put any thought into it.

You should try to live for many hours at a time with an N95 (at least) or a PAPR, and a faceshield along with a protective gown, I would like to see how strong you will be. There is no comparison to wearing a simple mask for a couple of hours at a time, at most; yes, wearing a mask at the store it's inconvenient and my glasses fog up constantly but I do this to live with a clean conscious that I didn't infect others.

A layman article about masks: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/04/dont-wear-mask-yourself/610336/

Even if they aren't that effective of decreasing the rate of particles and viral shedding (unfortunately the homemade aren't), even partially effective masks can have a huge impact on the long run if enough people use them.

I got a call from my doctor's nurse asking me how I was doing.  So I asked her if he's back working taking patients.  No, she said.  So I scratched my head wondering why bother calling me.  So she said if there's anything of an emergency type thing, I could call the office and he'll talk to me through skype or some such video call.  So I said, I was suppose to get a blood test before this virus thing kicked in.  So she said well they could give me another prescription to draw blood. So I said I rather take my chances my blood is OK rather than going and exposing myself at the Quest Lab to people coughing and sneezing on me. After all, what kind of healthy people go to a lab anyway when they're not sick?  We had a good laugh about that.  Then I went back to hiding out again. And she went, well, I don't know were she went.

So is this to mean the percentages are not accurate?

If yes, essentially that meme is lying to us, but you defend it.

Many of these professionals would like to get away from their wives and return to work, but it's their associations who ordered their members to suspend their services.

Right. If I really want to stretch it I'm sure those percentages are accurate in the right scenario, but that's not the point. But you like stretching the point when it serves your narratives without thinking it through, because you don't really care what the other is trying to say.

Btw, I'm still waiting on your great dissertation on this, after stretching that point for a couple of pages:

No, you're just trying to be a smartass.

The statement was quite clear: "but no more wisdom than you and I". I said viceversa is true also.

Vice versa is used most commonly (by far) like this: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vice%20versa
I also explained for you after, but apparently you didn't bother to read (the experts might not have more wisdom than you, but you might not have more wisdom than them either). The fact that you are claiming it's not clear means you are not interested in the the actual subject.

Be that as it may, your statement to which I said the vice versa is true also was: "but no more wisdom than you and I"
So what are your "converse, inverse and contrapositive" interpretations, just so we know you didn't just throw these terms around.

The difference is that for condom to be effective you have to wear only for the critical five minutes.

I don't think that the medical labs are very busy now, people are staying at home. As a matter of fact, in Ontario, several labs have been temporarily closed due to lack of work.
It may also well be that since people are staying home, there are fewer car, sport or bar-fight related accidents. There may be more domestic fights or mental breakdowns though.

A few days ago, I had a CT scan done in my local hospital, and the hospital looked completely deserted, at least the central building with the main entrance and main hallways. I have never seen it that empty.
