As I said before, a complex system of state surveillance is required — i.e. widespread testing followed by forensic contact-tracing and quarantining. South Korea is doing this, with the help of smartphone apps.

If this isn't done, a second wave is inevitable, followed by a second lockdown.

And what do you do if people just leave their phones at home?

I know, unthinkable right, but what if?

Don't forget Jared and Ivanka too.

I have never said Trump is perfect.

I truly wish he did not include them; it only makes for great fodder for the Dems.

They have a lot of experience running small businesses.  Their expertise is very valuable.  70% of American businesses are small.  Most photography firms are small. It's critical that policies consider these firms and get it right.  It's not all about the large corporations, banks and individuals.  We'll never recover if small firms don't get back to work.

Fauci confirmed yesterday that Trump has followed all medical advice from the beginning.  You need to keep up with the real news and stop repeating the fake news.

If you believe that...then there is a bunch of ocean front land in Louisianna I can sell you. Wonder how big a gun Trump had aimed at Fauci when he said this.

Alan, I mentioned before, take those rose coloured glasses off when you read anything about Trump...they sure slant how you intepret the message.

There you go again with those rose coloured glasses. Everything is perfect around Trump. There is no one better Trump could have appointed to the committee? It's all in the family affair.

... The question remains. What will happen between now and the time of restriction lifting that makes you think there won't be a resurgence of infection?

Who cares about the resurgence?

I tend to leave my phone at home. And some people don't even have smartphones. But most people do, and they carry them at all times, so they're a great way to track the vectors of a pandemic.

Of course such surveillance is a massive violation of privacy. For that reason, I think it will only be adopted after the second wave.

And yet... nobody did it before he showed what's possible.

Countries and companies do what is financially in their interests at the time they think it's in their interest. It was always possible; it's just how it had already been done before the move to cheaper manufacture overseas. When that turns redundant, then ciao, back to Mama they run. All the developing countries offer cheaper labour than in the home base of first-world companies; when it suits, that cheap labour is adopted regardless of the damage it does back home: money is king. What do you think China itself is doing in Africa? Exploiting cheap labour and raping away the natural bounty of those host lands.

Can this be serious when it includes China?

Maybe it does...just not in the top 20. I see China having very little activity and economy starting to work again. Contrast that to the USA and China probably doesn't belong in the top 20.

Who doesn't care about the resurgence ?
Probably a few suffering from severe dementia and those so mentally handicapped that their perception of reality is irreparably tainted.

Covid-19 Risk Ranking.

More info here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/cognitiveworld/2020/04/13/covid-19-complexity-demands-sophisticated-analytics-deep-analysis-of-global-pandemic-data-reveals-important-insights/#266729c42f6e

Lies, damn lies and statistics.  Ratings based on arbitrary valuations of what they think is important prove nothing but the prejudices of the researchers. We see that in our photo rating sections.  I read some of the parameters and they are cryptic.  The report provides little value in assessing which specific methods work best.  It's a good start.  But people have to pull out the important facts and provide specific actions taken to get there in simple and understandable methods.  Saying one country or another was safer in their methods provides little help.

Which is exactly what Trump did. Japan and others are doing the same, not, of course, to please him, but following his lead.

This circle is getting tighter and tighter: it's what I just wrote, his lead aside! He is irrelevant to their decisions.

His message has been changing over time. Wonder why? Maybe Trump retweeting a post about firing Fauci might have influence.

Like I said, wonder how big a gun Trump had pointed at Fauci when he said this.
