You don't think that characterizing that police officer as a Mexican is exactly part of the problem?

Not the problem that I created. If it is a problem, it exists, with or without people acknowledging it. And by "problem" I do not mean characterizing it, but heaving a heard mentality: like all Mexicans and blacks should vote Democrats. "If you are not voting for a Democrat, you ain't black" as Biden said.

Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and France have now significantly fewer new cases and deaths than before. Most East European countries show even lower numbers.

Their epidemic started earlier.

So you have the numbers, answer the question.  It was quite specfic.  How do the deaths in the EU compare to the US?

if you see these stats ; Worst country in Europe at the moment is Russia; in the US numbers are also still rising, then the UK where they were late with a lockdown; and then Italy where it seems under control for the moment. Most counties in the EU are like Italy except Sweden.

In Russia they only count corona deaths if they see it as the mayor decease and have tested the person. the death rate is low because of that.

So do you want meto do the work for you? The map of per capita deaths is simple, you hover the mouse over a country and gives you the number. I do not see aggregated EU number, but that does not make sense, some countries fared better than others (those who confined first).

USA - 321 per million

Spain, France, Italy, UK, Sweden - around 500 per million. They obviously downplayed the seriousness initially, as laready recognized by them.

Germany - 102

Austria - 70

Finland - 57

Latvia - 12

Point is in EU all countries statistics are coming down. In the USA, they are coming down, but death count is still serious, as the peak was allowed to go very high.

Total USA deaths as of today is 108K.  Total in all of Europe as of today 176K.

I might also add that we are being very liberal in classifying C-19 deaths.  It has been shown, by Slobo I believe, that hospitals in the USA have a financial incentive to list someone as dying of C-19, and examples of deaths that were clearly not C-19 caused have been found.  For instance, someone was listed as dying of C-19 after being fatally shot since he tested positive.  Another man was found dead in his home, tested for C-19, was positive and his death was listed as due to C-19, however his blood alcohol level was 0.55, clearly a COVID-19 death.

It does make me wonder, how much do you need to drink to get to a 0.55 blood alcohol level?

I am sure these are not anomalies.

I have read other countries are being much more conservative.

Big fail then.

This wiki page says that he was born in Cuba (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Acevedo ), emigrated to the US when he was 4. Living in a place from the age of 4 is maybe not exactly the same as being born there, but it's pretty damn close. He made his way up the police ranks serving in several departments.

But by all means, keep doubling down. If you can open your mouth just a tiny bit more, maybe you can get the other foot in there.

What are the US excess death figures?

Here in the UK, the official Covid death toll is 40,000, but the excess deaths for this period (compared to previous years) is 62,000.
