Imaging tech used in "The Irishman"

This is an interesting 13 minute video about the imaging technology that was used in the movie "The Irishman" to make the actors (DeNiro, Pesci, Pacino) look much younger in scenes where they played younger versions of themselves.

While it gives many examples, it does not say much about the actual method, other that a brief mention that 3 cameras are used, two of which are infrared. Apparently the infrared frames are somehow combined with the real frames to soften skin, remove shadows, etc.

The movie is vastly over-rated. Mostly more stereotypical gangster stuff. And DeNiro frowning.

Add to that, we know what DeNiro looks like young, and the editors did not even come close to that.

And the body language, perhaps most notable in the early scene where the De Niro character is beating up the grocer. That's an old man.

I would never have thought at that scene like that, but your right.  A young does not fight like that.
