That seems like a marvelous and bold project. It also sounds, although this could just be lip service and good PR, as if they're handling it quite well.
Bringing photography in particular, and art in general, to people who are unfamiliar with it, is surely 1000 times as worthwhile as bringing more of it to those of us who have, if anything, far too much of it already.
I think it's wonderful when someone doesn't "get" a piece of art and then struggles with it. It is in this way that we are enlarged. The couple kissing on the subway could be a gateway to understanding the culture that produced the picture. Certainly some will dismiss it as smut, but surely some will see that while those people are certainly different what with the public kissing, perhaps they're different without being terrible. And that is an important thing to learn about any other peoples. That they can be different, without being terrible.
