Experience using M lenses on Nex 7

I want to buy a camera for travel, something to always have in my pocket. The Leica X1 is a candidate as well as the Sony Nex 7.

Anybody experience of using M lenses on the Nex 7 ?

I have the nex 7 on backorder at B&H and have 4 Leica M lenses with the Leica/NEX adaptor just sitting here at home waiting to try on the NEX!  I will report back after I get the camera!! eleanor

I also have, sitting here at the house waiting...the Ziess 24 1.8 E mount auto focus which is made for this camera.  I just have everything except the camera!! :-) eleanor

According to what I have read there is a problem with "Biogon" type lenses where light from the sensor hits the sensor at very wide angles. Modern M-lenses have longer distance between back pupil and sensor as they needed to leave room for the M5-type light meter that was swinging in and out of the optical path.

In general wide angles for digital need to be some kind of inverted telephoto designs which comes with a larger size.

I'm having an A77 SLT on order, from same vendor, and I'm also waiting :-(, but I have three other cameras to put my lenses on ;-)

I just printed a Nex-7 file using an M 35 summicron (non-asph) and there was very evident magenta corners on two sides.
Didn't look very impressive.
Upside is that a 17x22print from a file  shooting at 1600 with the Zeiss 24 1.8 in a dark, spot lit Jazz club look very good.

More useful is that I'll likely be using his camera in the next (no pun intended) few days and will try out a few M-lenses to see,firsthand, the colorcast

Not yet, but I tried it on my NEX-5n a few times and wonderful quality, fun, but for efficient shoot, I find the E lenses are OK, means acceptable for me.  M lenses are great, but M lenses are not the only lenses in the world, I have my M9 and use it less and less, not because it is not good, but because sometimes I want to have a short movie clip and I don't want to carry an extra bag. Digital technology today has advanced to a point that it really matter less what one shoot, but who shot it.  If we can produce good result from the days we use 135mm film, NEX and the m4/3 are all very acceptable.
I will not doubt there will be people using legendary M lenses on a different camera for producing work, and I don't doubt the result, but for me it is more fun than practical, for the way I like to sue camera.
