Pano printing issue
« on: June 22, 2023, 03:24:10 pm »

I am having difficulty printing a few long images (pano). I stitched and cropped the images in LR. They are sized to print on 17" wide media. I make sure that there is between 1" - 1.5" minimum on all sides. There is usually more on top & bottom. I've tried printing through LR, PS and Epson Print Layout (EPL). All show the same full image in the previews so that I know the layout on paper is correct. The issue is that it only seems to print about 25% -30% of the middle of the image, the entire length of the media. Windows 10 - 64, printers are Epson P800 & P900. LR & PS are subscription so up to date as is EPL. What can I do to make sure the entire image gets printed as it appears in the print preview? I am going to post this on other forums to make sure this gets viewed.

The only thing I can think of that can cause this is a wifi connection. Large files have been known to choke on a wifi connection. USB or Ethernet is always best.
Also what is your exact print size and your custom page size setting?

Both printers are connected via USB. Always have been. The custom print size is 17" x 42".
I cut the paper to 39″ assuming a 1.5″ boarder on each end (as top and bottom could vary, depending on the image). Since the paper came off a roll & I knew that it would not feed well from the top (rear in Epson parlance), I attached a 3″ scrap cut from a 17″ wide paper in order for the paper feed into the printer. The custom size was then made to be 42″long x 17″wide. The print would begin printing exactly where I wanted it to begin, but as I stated, only the middle of the image would get printed. For example: the image is 14″ x 36″. It starts printing 4.5″ in (on the left hand side of the image) and continues to the end, leaving a 1.5 ” boarder on the right hand side (the full 36″ of the image). However, what is missing is ~4″ from the top & bottom of the image.

I had problems similiar to this printing from Mac OS, LR, to Epson 3880. The ultimate fix was when I replaced my six foot USB cable with a high quality one. Perhaps try changing your USB cable.

If you click zoom to fill in Lightroom does anything change in your print preview?

I had a similar issue and deleted and reinstalled the print driver and as I remember this sorted it out. The attached 3” leader may also present a problem to the printer. I am also printing panoramas on a P600 with a roll adapter and it works fine.

Can you screenshot your Lightroom print setup and preview?

This was my experience if I recall correctly.  My printer is an Epson SC P900. My print came out similar to what you described. I think that I was printing from PS. I had specified a custom print size for a 17"x30" print.
What I discovered that although I had done everything correctly in PS the printing menu of the P900 didn't "get the message". I had to make sure that the "printer menu" was set up for the custom size. I only had that issue once.

Maybe it is this.
Adobe - at least wit PS,  has a limit to the amount of pixels in lenght it will print ; i think 30.000  pixels is the limit.
so about   300dpi 240 cm

When this happens to me it just means that I got width and length reversed in the paper settings. The width of the paper always comes first so it would be 17"x30". If you reverse it to 30" x 17" it will just part of the image even though the preview looks good.
