Title: Sony A7r Firmware Update 1.2 kills camera

Warning: I killed my A7r with the 1.2 Firmware update. I had to send it in for repair. Just read there is a new 1.21 Firmware which corrects that.

So was it dead or mostly dead?

PS. More on topic it makes you wonder if they actually test this stuff more than once before releasing it

Yep. Killed my a7r too. Brought it to my very friendly and professional camera dealer. where they managed to complete the update after about 30 minutes of trying.

Odd that Sony USA and many other geographies, other than Japan still don't have 1.21 but rather 1.20.  So far no problem on both my cameras on 1.20 but it is weird if it's really bricking cameras that they haven't gone to the same version as is listed on the Sony Japan site (1.21)

No idea how it's related, but this rumor may get a few E mount photographers more excited than firmware update issues!

The bets are open, who btwn Sony and Canon will be the first to put a 50+ mp camera in the hands of photographers? ;)
