Title: Mamiya AFD II Back Shimming
Post by: Mike Sellers on September 02, 2012, 10:17:39 am
I have a ZD back on this camera and I was wondering if it is possible to shim this back in case it is out of focus? Is the Alpa the only body that can be shimmed?

Is it out of focus with all lenses or just some? I've never messed around with the focus in my Mamiya, but adjusting the AF sensor in my Nikon D200 was far more trivial than one might expect. I'd guess that correcting the body/AF sensor/AF mirror might not be very difficult. Unfortunately I cannot seem to locate a repair manual online for the AFD cameras to see how it might be done.

I don`t know that it is out of focus at all. I have two lenses coming in the next few days and I will test them at infinity and maybe even take pictures of a brick wall!

If you find a real problem then MAC group in the US or your local Mamiya repair outfit are probably the only option for shimming a back/body combo if ALL your lenses are back/front focusing.

It's not a normal procedure for an AFD/back, let's just say that.
