Title: d800 and zeiss

I am looking at wide angle options and am trying to decide between the zeiss 25 mm f/2 and the nikkor 14-24 f/2.8. Although the lack of zoomability and manual focussing is a limitation of the zeiss, that will not impact my shooting. Having to zoom with my feet forces me to think more about composition which is mostly landscape  and still life for me. Still, my concern is the emphasis on accurate focussing with the d800 and whether the manual zeiss will fail there-or will the autofocussing of the nikkor generate more keepers. Having to use an lcd loupe for every shoot will get old. I might as well get a view camera. Has anyone experienced either this zeiss or the 21 mm f2.8 on a d800?

Quote from above re the 14-24, "note: the corners are rather soft."

I don't know why you'd need a loupe for every shot, zoomed live view should work for most.

Hello,

I own a Nikon 14-24mm lens which I use on my Nikon D3x and I can say I have never experienced soft corners with this lens.

Roger Cicala is doing some rigorous testing of lenses, go read his blog at lensrentals.com for the details. If he says the corners of that lens don't hold up on the D800, I'm inclined to believe him.
