Hi all
is there any chance Pentax could get Leaf Shutter Lenses on the 645d body and / or reduce flash sync speed to a level like HB and P1?
best regards

Because of the whole Ricoh - Pentax merger thing, I doubt there will be new products from them for a while... I mean their 25mm FA lens was announced in Feb '11 and there is still no word of when it will be delivered. At PDN photo plus I think the word was "sometime soon" for when we would see that.....Oh did I mentioned they were hiding the 645D away, under one of their two tables and you had to ask to see it....I think right now they are focusing on the Pentax Q / Ricoh GXR for consumer interchangeable lens etc.
I think they think the 645D can rest on the lenses of the 645N series of cameras, and I think they are right to a certain extent...but with the Hasselblad lenses all including LS functions and numerous P1 lenses having this function I think they are falling behind...which is surprising based on the success and good things said about the 645D since its release...I think it will find its way in the future. I'd hope they release an upgraded (tech wise) model soon and a slew of new lenses with it but again I think its kind of fallen by the side in the merger...

The old Pentax 645 leaf shutter lenses work on the 645D body now.
The new D FA 25mm has been released and on sale for for some time. There is another lens scheduled to be released next year--a cleverly taped mockup is in the Pentax salon in Tokyo. That does not appear to have a shutter. Supposedly, Pentax has a release planned ever year. Whether a leaf shutter lens is included is unknown.
My experience with camera company mergers is that R&D/product schedules do not slow down. Bad product lines are dropped, but the the good ones keep moving forward.

They come out with more lenses and a better sensor, I'll look at it as a backup....

Also I don't think any of those older Leaf Shutter lenses are autofocus....kinda puts them another step behind Hass and Phase.

OK. I have found the lenses plentiful and the sensor is great.

And there is a whole bunch of stuff that puts them in front...

A better sensor? Pixel for pixel, square mm for square mm, the 645D (and H4D-40) have the best sensor in digital medium format.
Of course, it's not the largest sensor in digital medium format, so one way to better it (relative to its itself and its peers...not relative to CMOS DSLRs!) is to make it larger; and that means Kodak doing something they've never done, to my knowledge: putting microlenses on a sensor larger than 44x33 mm. But we can hope.

I should know better than to get involved in a thread like this, but I'm weak at the moment
