Title: Dust shield for sensors?

With the problems of dust accumulating on imaging sensors, why is it that the camera manufacturers don't seem to be coming up with solutions to minimise this problem?

Would it not be possible to design the DSLR bodies with a dust shield that closes whenever the lens release button is depressed and stops dust and dirt getting in in the first place?
