Based largely on what I read here, I spent $1400+ last week for the NEC 2690, the Spectraview II software, and the colorimeter. My god, I wish I'd done it ages ago. I had been suffering through all sorts of calibration and color inconsistency issues. Now I am in color management nirvana. I have only printed a couple of images thus far, but they are practically dead on matches with the image on the monitor. I set the monitor at 6500K, 2.2, and luminance at 110. Ran the software and voila, it is just wonderful. I am seeing just a bit more contrast in the image on the monitor, and I would like to be able to get a little better match in that regard (have only printed on Premium Luster so far). But I am very, very happy with the monitor and software.

Thanks to all on this forum for getting me acquainted with the 2690. It is everything you said it would be. I've said good riddance to my HP 2335 once and for all.

Glad you like it.  Picking mine up this weekend in Vancouver.  How do you like the 26" screen - does it seem a little large?  I would have preferred a 24", but they don't have the wider gamut.

That's the same thing I thought. Using a 24" WS display feels totally natural vs some of the other bigger display sizes. But the 2690 was no issue, I got used to it in less than 30 minutes.

I got mine two days ago from Provantage.  I could not believe it was here three days after ordering.  Came out of NJ and I'm an overnight delivery from there.  So that explains it.
     Its quite a change going from a 19" CRT thats for sure.  I think I'm going to try a 110 cd.  Mine is at 150 like what Andrew said NEC suggests but my prints are coming out a little darker than the screen.

Got mine from Atic Computers on E. Broadway.  They had then the best prices I could find in Canada... they are currently selling it for ~1200 (cash).  Bought mine in July... won't tell you what I had to pay, I might start to cry. They've come down that much in 6 months!

Haven't regretted it or a minute, though, just excellent colour, and the best screen to print match I have yet seen (replaced an aging Eizo CRT).  The 26" width is a real plus when working in an application like Lightroom.  It has to be one of the best values in a wide gamut  monitor currently available.

I have a two NEC LCD 2090UXi's, more than 32 inches of horiz work space.
No Spectraview II.... yet.

Using Spyder3Elite, calibrate to:
g = 2.2
WP = 6500
White Lum = 125
Black Lum = 0.50

My white lum seems to be in the ballpark.
What are you (anybody) using as Black Lum?
