Title: Filling in a background....what's the best way?

I laid out a roll of 5 foot white paper on the ground and placed an item of furniture on it.

I then shot the furniture from overhead.

However, the white paper does not extend the edge of the frame and I would like it to.

The white paper is evenly lit.

What is the best way of 'extending' the white paper to fill the frame? I could go mad with the Clone tool, but there must be a neater way?

I just select a chunk of the white, copy and paste, smooth over any seams with healing brush.

or just clip the piece out and place on a new blank image that is rgb white.

Use two sheets of the white paper and then clone away the "seam" between them; or use three sheet and clone away the two end seams.

Perhaps you could use the rectangular marquee tool in PS, select as much of the white as possible, and then use Edit>Free Transform to extend the white background area selected to the edge of the frame.

There are about as many ways to extend the white as there are copies of PS.  You could use Image > Canvas Size and just add to either the left/right or top/bottom.  Or all four sides in white.  

If you need 2 inches on the left and right place a 4 in the box and select inches.  If the foreground color is white then select foreground.  If not then background or white.

Select a brush, white and paint in any areas that requires white.  A better approach is to add a layer above your image and paint on that.  This way the painting can be removed or changed in opacity or fill and it does not destroy your image.
