Did not realize Iceland has beaches; i will change my Costa del Sol plans and go to Holtstangi!

Wait till you see Rauðisandur. There are fantastic beaches in the Hornstrandir area, too (accessible in summer to capable hikers).

It reminds me of the white sand seen on the beaches on some isles in Scotland.

Very nice. I love the swirly patterns of the submerged sand.
