Title: LIGHTROOM 5 IS RENAMING MY FILES

TO UNTILTED HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP  I RENAMED MY FILES IN PHOTO MECHANIC . NOW IT APPEARS IT RENAMED MY FILES ON IMPORT THAT THE HELL. I just spent two hours working on these files. Why would it rename on import?

Because you ticked 'Rename Files' in the import dialogue is the simple answer.

You may also not have correctly renamed your photos in PM, so they retained their original names which LR would have used on import.

Almost certainly user error.
