Title: Wyoming laws may unconstitutionally criminalize photography on public lands
Post by: Ranger Rick on January 02, 2016, 10:36:14 am
"A federal judge has rejected the state of Wyoming’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit aimed at striking down a pair of laws that make it illegal to collect data from public lands without first gaining permission.

U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl issued the order on Monday, finding that Wyoming’s “data trespass” laws may unconstitutionally criminalize activities such as photography on public lands."

While part of another battle waged by stockgrowers against environmental regulations, it can have wider implications.

I am watching this case with interest.  If the "politically powerful" side wins, it could have a chilling effect on the freedom to record in public places in the USA.  I hope they lose and have to pay attorney's fees for the paintiff.
