Title: Batch converting images to fit a certain file size

Can someone help me out and let me know the best way to batch convert a folder full of images so that each image has a specified file size (in terms of disk space; Megabytes)? I know how to do this image by image using the 'Image Size' dialog in Photoshop, but batch converting image with various resolutions and dimensions is another story...I don't necessarily have to do this via Photoshop either, so if there is some other program or plug-in out there that anyone knows about, I'd love to hear about it...Thanks!

ImageMagick (http://www.imagemagick.org/)

Free software and it has an API so ypu can program your own, or use command line utilities.

Irfanview is also great for batch processing images - can easily set resolution, and JPEG compression.  Its also Free!

The software BD Sizer is specifically designed to achieve what you are setting out to do. It will quite happily resize, sharpen, and watermark images and then compress them into a file of given resolution and size. It is also freeware.
