LRCC High CPU Usage after Conversion - Solution
« on: April 24, 2015, 10:59:59 am »

I had a couple of catalogs that would have constant CPU usage 30-50% and would not cease. Using LR while this was occurring was futile. These are not large catalogs and the images in them are very small (around 400x600px) and the count is 500-600 images in each. One was all jpg the other was a mix of jpg and tiff mostly tiff. I assured that LR Mobile was not enabled and Face / Address detection was not on. I am not using GPU acceleration, my video card does not support the proper OpenGL version.

I found that I had to delete the previews folder and let LRCC rebuild the previews to resolve this. For the tiff catalog I had to do this a couple of times. I forced 1:1 previews on this catalog and I'm not sure if this was the resolution step - but once I had done this thing settled down for this catalog.

I have standard previews set to be built initially. Wondering if there is a conflict with Std Preview generation with small images.

Hopefully this will be helpful to others.
