Anyone else feel ... underwhelmed?
Yes.
There's a few nice new refinements to the feature set, but a lot of what people have asked for seems to have been over looked.

Editing masks is good, but where are the different colour options for the overlay so we can see easily what's going on ?
The enhancement to the painter option in library is useful, but only a small step forward to aid keywording.
Nice to be able to soft proof with CMYK profiles.
The panorama feature seems to work well enough.
Face detection isn't of much interest.
I'm puzzled why the HDR option only delivers a 16bit file when LR can handle 32bit files, a lost opportunity there I think.

But no significant improvement to the book module or key wording <sigh> at least it's cheap.

How do you uninstall LR5 cleanly?

There seems to be no uninstall option in the CC App.

Not just soft proofing, they appear in the Print Module. So somewhat on parity with ACR which is kind of nice.

LR CC...
Is it equal to LR6 upgrade?...As far as the Whats New page?

It lists these as New features or improvements:
HDR images made easy: Nice
Stunning panoramas: Nice
Faster performance: MUST
Facial recognition: Whatever.(resource hog)
Advanced video slide shows: Meh
Improved web galleries: Eh
Better control of filters: MUST
Easy photo sharing: OK
Support for more devices: Other than cameras, like scanners?
Visual storytelling: Meh, ok, why not. I'm open to new things
Copy-paste enhancements: Sounds nice
Perfect presentations: Sure, why not
Fast photo searching: This maybe helpful
Quick composition adjustment: Ok, why not.

If the performance actually improves noticeably, and filter control is improved, that would be worth it for me. The other few are OK/Whatever, and some that will be a hindrance.

As others mentioned I wish there were more control features like color on local adjusts.

See the link below as its a manual uninstall only with LR5 for some reason.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/manually-remove-lightroom.html

Never used LR since version 2 but have just signed up to the CC Photography plan and installed LR from the CC desktop app for a play (Capture One user) but it installed LR5 for some reason? Signing in and out gave the option of LR CC but I then had a LR5 install I didn't want.....  >:(

The instructions above seemed to do the trick.

No, it's Lightroom recognising that you are signed in with an active CC account, using that to start up the software (See the Help>System Info dialog), and not then needing to look for the perpetual licence. The versions are identical apart from LrMobile being active, though in their branding they are certainly going to emphasize CC and Cloud-connected workflows like LrMobile, Slate, Comp etc.

Yes, but I don't want to run the CC version.  I don't want to travel with a program that can inconveniently want an internet connection.  I realize that I'm basically buying this software twice, but I want to maintain a perpetual license and Adobe seems to be preventing me from using it, even though I've paid for one.  Since I'm required to sign in to my account in order to install the software, this is going to happen again when I put it on the laptop, even though I have no CC apps installed at all.

Have you tried signing out in LR on the laptop? It's under the Help menu on Mac. Not sure it will help, but maybe when you restart LR and go to Help > System Info you'll see it's using the perpetual licence (second line down) rather than CC.

Lightroom CC will not run on my PC running Win7 64 SP1.  I'm seeing lots of reports of the same.

Adobe has dropped the word 'Photoshop' from Lightroom's name.   This must mean that the two products will move in different directions.   All of the CC products have dropped the year and release version from the product names too.   I see this as a subtle rebranding but likely the first step towards something bigger.

I actually can't install it on my current laptop (not 64 bit) -- the laptop upgrade is a couple of months away.  But as soon as I sign into my account to install the download, I'm told that I have a valid license and don't need to install as a trial -- which is where I would use the serial number.  Given that we now have to be connected to the internet to get this software going, the same will happen on the new laptop.  I've got a question in on the Adobe LR forum.

For LR 6:  On the US site go to the LR page.  Scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see a small panel to buy LR 6.  At the shopping cart, you can click the "Edit" button and can then select to upgrade LR for $79 rather than buy the full version.
However, to obtain the Lr6 upgrade, at least if you are a CC subscriber, you will need to be sure you are not logged in to the Adobe website.  Otherwise you won't see the option to purchase the Lr6 upgrade.

Best,

David

I found a solution on this very site: http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=99718.0

I'm not sure if this reply was meant for me.  The new Lightroom runs fine on my computer (Win 8.1 64-Bit), but it runs as LRCC (subscription), not LR6 (perpetual).  I've been trying to serialize it to run as a perpetual product, but it doesn't seem to be possible.  In fact, when I posted the question on Lightroom Journal, Jeff Tranberry said that I would have to quit my CC membership in order to serialize LR6.

Rick - I was answering my previous post where I was unable to run Lightroom CC 2015.  Sorry for the confusion.

I just added LR CC to my Adobe Creative Cloud.  It installed properly and it is included in my CC subscription package (no increase in charges).  There are a number of improvements, but anticipating improved adjustment brushes and faux layers made it a bit of a let down.  What I noticed immediately was a definite speed improvement and it is really appreciated.

I assume LR CC means an end of waiting for update to ACR and new features, while the standalone version would continue to be updated as before.

Ugg LightRoom 2015(CC) Downloaded for me but I couldn't open it, Windows 7 pro 64 desktop machine 32gb of ram, rebooted after install; does any body have any ideas?? I have currently uninstalled the program before it did anything to my LightRoom 5 catalog. Today was a very frustrating day that began with my epson printer suddenly deciding to no longer print reds.

Log out of your CC account , then log back in. Many users had this problem today. Slight glitch in verifying licensing for the new version. This method seemed to fix it in most cases.

Yes, we've installed on 3 different Macs, and all three just flashed the startup screen and quit.  Logging out of CC and back in resolved this.

One problem persisting on one machine is when launching, LR CC crashes before opening the main window.  The current "fix" is to hold to the option /alt key and then select the catalog from the list.  It's the same catalog  that was running before, so not sure if there is a preference problem, but it seems the catalog file should be OK.
