Spring in Odemira, southwest Portugal
« on: April 14, 2015, 03:56:49 am »

Some photos taken near Odemira, with yellow flowers and a cork tree. Variations on a theme, and a later pleasant late afternoon.

My preference is the second photo. The vibrance of the yellow flowers really shouts 'spring'.

I agree, I like the second most.

Only nitpick is the trees in the background on the left.  Could be nice if you could get a vantage point without those to simplify the scene.

I prefer everything to be in focus in this style of photo; so for the third I think I would prefer a focus stack for DOF

I'm a big fan of the B&W.

Thanks for the feedback. I did walk up and down that hill a few times trying to "get rid" of the trees on the left, no success.

#3 I shot for fun, just to see the effect. The focus on the flowers about a 1/3 into the image; I like how the tree in the background is still discernible, but fuzzy.

I looked at the dof experiment in your blog post but IMO, for scenes this large I think the deep dof works best.  Keep experimenting.
