Artefacts wth Photoshop brush tool
« on: January 24, 2006, 11:55:06 pm »

I'm suddenly creating a subtle artefact while brushing in a masked layer effect i.e. curves adjustment layer with no curve adjustment, blend mode set to multiply at 20% opacity, masked to hide all, brushing multiply effect into areas with airbrush set to 10% opacity and 0% hardness.  SUBTLE LAYERED STREAKS appear, streaming in the general direction of brush strokes.

A Gaussian Blur on the offending layer's mask has no effect.

Any other suggestions?

It's hard to say for sure without seeing what you are doing but using a very soft brush will give you 10% in the center of your stroke and less toward the edges. Try increasing the hardness and keep your strokes closer together. You might also reduce the spacing below the default 25%(under brush tip shape- shape dynamics in the brush palette). Although if it was set too high it might create a pattern perpendicular to the brush direction which I understand is'nt what you are describing.
