Sandhill Cranes
« on: March 29, 2015, 02:59:01 pm »

In hindsight, I should have pushed up the ISO allowing a smaller aperture and better DOF, but the second bird is a little soft.  So much to consider in the brief seconds you have when shooting wildlife.  I still liked the color and pose though, so I processed it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing :)

But I agree, the blurred second bird is a little distracting.  I'm not 100% sure on the framing either with the main bird looking out of the frame.

But yeah, wildlife is not easy to shoot; that's why I'm terrible at it.  Landscapes tend to stay still for me.

Stunning shot, even with the slight blur.

After having spent a moment with this photo, the slight blur doesn't really bother me. It's a great shot!

I'm not at all bothered by the slightly oof crane, and instead find the colors and composition visually appealing. Nice capture.

Thank you all.  I know it could be better, but I just couldn't toss it.

Maybe a bit more DOF would have been helpful, but not so much that it would significantly change that wonderful out-of-focus background. I like it for the same reasons you decided to keep it.

I love how the lower bodies merge together to create a lovely shape and how that relates in terms of colour harmonies to their environment.
A really good show.
