Quadtone Question
« on: March 26, 2015, 12:07:36 pm »

I just received my Epson 3880 printer and love the output. I moved over from the Canon 9500 MKII which a friend bought. Anyway, I was experimenting with the Quadtone software and I like it. But, is there a way to control the border when you print? I normally use Qimage to put a 1 inch border around my print and it was pretty easy. I'm hoping I can do the same with Quadtone.

Cheers!

Print to File with border + corner marks in QU and then that file through QTR ?  Keep an eye on the greyscale>RGB>greyscale conversions and compatible gamma/colorspace then but it can be done. If you also keep in mind that 720 PPI is the "native" resolution of QTR you can also aim QU's resampling and sharpening to that value.

Sure I advocated years ago that QTR should get the shape of a normal Windows printer driver and we could print directly from QU through QTR but that is not going to happen I am afraid. Running HP printers today so QTR is not used here anymore as a driver but the B&W linearise/profile tools are still used.

Excellent! Thanks Ernst? I will keep on it. Do you have any recommendations concerning paper for color prints. I use Ilford for my black and white prints and Carson and I'm happy with both. But for color ( I print mostly landscapes) I haven't settled.

P.S. Are you Dutch? My wife is Flemish.

Try Epson Proofing White Semi-Matte if you like to see a wide gamut.

Flandern is south of the border and we like to go there.

Bedank! My daughter lives in Amsterdam. We moved to Utah in America in July.
