Vapor lock with refillable cartridges
« on: March 17, 2015, 08:08:55 pm »

I have an Epson R3000 and ordered some Cone color ink and the complete set of cartridges. Later from another person I was warned that the reason Cone color makes there cartridge a slight bit larger and hold a slight bit more ink is because Epson cartridges always leave extra ink that can't be used in there cartridges that report "time to replace". I was told thats because to keep you from trying to use a completely empty cartridge and causing vapor lock, and that the Cone cartridges could cause you to use an completely empty cartridge. Help please?

Why not ask the question at Inkjetmall?

I will tomorrow. I live in New Mexico and Inkjetmall is in Vermont 3hr's different. Besides I wanted some opinions. They are going to defend there product which (I haven't even tried yet). But the price is right and I guess I have to believe in one of my favorite quotes "everything has an opportunity cost". Even Ansel found that out when he got too old to use his 8x10 and 4x5 and went to his Hasselblad.

Cone cartridges and virtually all 3rd party cartridges for the Epson R3000 must be primed before using in your printer. The priming process insures that air is removed from the interior channels in the cartridge. Cone provides easy instructions for priming. It is critical that you do not run the Cone cartridges until they are completely empty. If you do you will lose the cartridge priming and will have to reprime the cartridges. Most importantly, you may get air into the ink tubes that run from the cartridges to the printer head. If this happens the air in the ink tubes will be very difficult to remove and will probably require many head cleaning cycles, wasting a considerable amount of expensive ink.

With refilling your cartridges, there is no advantage to running a cartridge dry. With my printers, when a cartridge registers low, I refill all the cartridges in the printer at the same time.

Three hours time difference, oh if only. Try 15 hours. InkjetMall provide the best support that I have ever seen. They regularly go above and beyond, and I can say that from recent personal experience.

Thanks all sounds very positive. Is cleaning the syringe very hard or just regular water?

Just rinse under a tap, very easy.

Jeff,

Which printer are you using Cone inks in? And, which Cone inks are you using?
