For the theoretically inclined technology is always quite interesting and imaging science is quite interesting.
On the other hand, technology arrived at a state where even small formats are perfectly good for normal size prints, like the A2 format the largest desktop printers can print. Michael Reichmann has written an interesting article on the issue:

10 years or so ago most discussions on most forums were far more interesting. There is really nothing new to discuss about digital anymore, other than to rehash tired, old debates like 35mm vs. medium format, CMOS vs. CCD, Leica vs. the rest, blah, blah, blah.
