kodak inkjet EKTAJET Semi-gloss Paper
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:00:24 pm »

I have been trying to profile it but I can`t get it to profile. It has vertical bands and it is smearing when the printer read the patches. The sheet that came with it says it is for the HP 755CM printer which is 4 color. My Z3100 is 12 colors. Is there any way to use this paper on my Z or is it a waste of time?

That media may require solvent or dye inks.  Kodak abandoned the trademark in 1999, not a good sign.  Don't mess up your printer.

That's for thermal dye inks. Quite spectacular with the right ink.

Could be the paper has a swellable polymer ink receptor coating (typical of better dye ink papers). This can take a lot longer time to dry, if it will dry at all! I believe the HP has a provision for printing out the patches and not reading them right away.

Brand Management Group -BMG- is the world wide distributor of the Kodak inkjet paper range for some years now and more recently also for the HP range. They have/had some Kodak swellable media in their catalog and two Felix Schoeller swellable papers branded Kodak. That is probably the only source left for swellable papers.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst

24 hours later the ink still isn`t dry! Nice glossy surface! Back to the drawing board.

right. As mentioned earlier, the paper is designed for dye inks, your pigment HP printer inks just sit on the top and may never completely dry.  Most pigment inks rely on the inkjet receptor coat to assist in "drying" enough to touch in a timely manner.

To your original question, yes I think the time trying to use it may be better spent in other pursuits.
