Nice, clean tree and effective use of a small solar disk.

A curious query: Someone on another forum suggests that while it is a nice image, I failed by not adhering to the coveted "Rule of Thirds" as shown in this edit. My thinking is I don't like to force the eye as much as to draw the eye. I feel in the 1/3 rule edit, I force the eye thus leaving pretty much everything else to fade away in an occular wasteland. The edit also doesn't allow the darker side to balance and hold the lighter ground water areas in check. Would love some opinions from everyone.

I like the original best, it's more balanced especially the dark vs light areas (as you wrote). In the end, the image is more pleasing, at least to my eyes.

Chris,

Your intuition is correct and much more reliable than the "Rule of Turds."

Clearly the LuLa crowd have better taste than do the denizens of that Other forum.

I was pretty sure of the response before I wrote but I guess I just needed the affirmation of my reasoning. Thanks for the kind remarks. This is what you get when you go back to "that" shot and don't keep moseying on down the road.
