Why not "Bitroom", "Byteroom" or "Pixelroom" or any other name that gives it a more digital flavour, for lack of a better word  ie...something not related to the darkroom?  Because, when I think of "Lightroom", the first word that I think of is "Darkroom".

The constant use of digital terms in names is tiresome. They need a name that is neutral to both digital and darkrooms.

Apple took the good one with Aperture. Maybe Adobe should call Lightroom "Iris."

Lightroom is appropriate. There are huge numbers of photographers and/or snapshooters who would have liked to have had their own darkroom and dabble in a bit of wet processing, were it not for the sheer inconvenience of creating a darkroom with sealed windows, dishes, chemicals enlargers and other equipment, not to mention the health hazard.

In the digital era, the lightroom takes the place of the darkroom so not why not call it what it is.

"Iris"  for me too.  Can we have a vote?  Should "Lightroom" be called "Iris" instead?

Why not "cornea"? Oh, I guess that's too corny.

They could name the educational discount version "Pupil."

Well after Aperture, should it not be called 'Shutter'?

Exactly my thoughts.  Sort of a bridge from the old to the new, to be a little melodramatic.

I kept calling it Lightable till somone pointed out the error to me. I think Adobe should give my mistake some thought. Remember 3M developed Post-It Notes from a batch of glue that went wrong

Dimroom?? Is that how you describe your working conditions, Daniel?

Light has connotations other than sheer brightness, such as 'not heavy', 'airy' and 'cheerful'.

I think Adobe should stick with the name.
