About Time
« on: March 01, 2015, 02:31:35 pm »

A few years ago I chanced upon this scene in southeastern Washington. The remnants of this ranch were clearly very old, and I lingered for quite a while, imagining the activities that took place here over many years, and the struggles for existence in this rather harsh landscape. I've struggled myself to appropriately portray the story that the site conveyed. This is my latest attempt, having concluded that B&W says it best. Any thoughts you care to share will be appreciated.

I like it. It's cropped a tad too tightly at the top for my taste and on my (uncalibrated laptop) screen it looks a bit blue, but it conveys a sense of loss.

I agree with Jeremy. I think a bit more space on top would be nice, but it is a very evocative image as it is.

Sharp and moody, you got the harsh.

Good work, it canĀ“t be easy to compose all those "tilting everywhere" disarrayed elements in a concise way.

Very nice, moody rendering. I wouldn't worry about the crop at the top if it is only black.

I love it, I want to explore the backstory, why was it left to decay?

Thanks to all of you for your comments, I will take them into consideration. Jeremy, I added a slight cooling tint to the image, that seemed to me to better evoke the mood I was after. However, I wanted it to be very subtle, so if others feel the "blueness" is overly noticeable, that would be good to know.
