The new Canon 11-24 is big...

I just got the new EF11-24 f4L and it is one huge lens... It's actually only a bit lighter than my old 70-200 2.8L

This is it compared to the other Canon wide lenses I use, and also the front elements to give a better feel for its sheer bulk ;-)

It's horrible weather here today so I've only tried a few shots outside, but first results show a superb quality lens right across the zoom range.

I'll be adding more examples and any info I find on the lens at:
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/lenses/ef_11-24_f4l.html
(see the note about gel filters if you use them)

Now, I'm really looking forward to what it can do with the 5Ds when that turns up...

keithcooper:
Bad weather still, but two shots outside where I live.
EF11-24 at 11mm and left-right stitch of TS-E17 (slightly wider ~10mm?)
Both at f/8 (note the vignetting with the TS-E)

Those images don't look as good as I was expecting after reading http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2015/02/canon-11-24-f4-l-mtf-tests

I should have made it clearer that these images were taken primarily to show the relative angles of coverage using the two lens options.  If you look at the linked page there is a corner crop that shows the small amount of CA on the 11-24 and how easily it's fixed.  Yesterday was a wet and windy day here...

The jpeg images here don't really do justice to the full quality of the lens - I have no difficulty in matching what I see to the lens rentals testing :-)

I should note however that I'm not a detail perfectionist, so my approach to testing and evaluating any lens is never going to match some people's more, shall we say, 'careful' approaches ;-) That testing will no doubt be along in due course

It probably makes sense to you as you know what the view from your front door is like, to the rest of us it's not a lot of help.
To be of any value it should be accompanied by some shots with other lens angles with which people are more familiar, eg 24mm, 21mm etc
