Simon Harper
« on: February 27, 2015, 10:41:24 am »

Folks, I found out today that one of the talented contributors to this forum passed away yesterday.  I found out through Facebook and don't have any specifics.  Simon and I developed a friendship over the years based on our shared appreciation of studio work and occasionally we'd talk to each other over the phone about the trials and tribulations of the automotive business.  He was an incredibly talented photographer with an unmatched passion for detail.  I know he felt this forum was a wonderful opportunity to learn and share, I'll certainly miss seeing what's he's been working on.  Jim

That is very sad news.
I have always admired his work and his willingness to share it with us on LuLa.
I'm sure many of us non-pros will miss him.

Wow, what terrible news. Jim, thank you for letting everyone know. It's never an easy task, being the bearer of such bad news.

Simon could shoot, stayed modern though continued producing a very high level of professional work, which is very difficult in today's atmosphere.

He was unique and worked at a very high level.

As everyone my condolences to his family and close friends.

I will miss him.

This is truly tragic news, I'm so sorry to hear this and my deep heart felt Condolences go out to his friends, colleagues and family.
I've confirmed Simon's sudden and tragic passing here in NZ with a reliable source and it is a shock to his work associates. It grieves me to hear the sad news.

Just can't believe it. We exchange so much information over time and he was such avid photographer.
So sad.

Sad news.
Simon was very helpful to me directly in comparing the 810/800e and some lens issues and sent through a lot of messages on the subject as well as his posts.
It's great to get advice directly from such a talented and long standing photographer..

RIP mate.
