No comments? I though they were better than my usual and close to what I wanted to convey. I didn't bother with a tripod therefore not maximum quality but the atmosphere is close.

In terms of composition, the first one sort of works for me, the other ones not really, mostly because of the position of the trees close to the lateral edges of the frames.

In terms of tones, they lack a bit excitment, but those lights are ckearly not easy to render in an appealing way.

Cheers,
Bernard

The composition of the third is my favorite, with the first in a close second. I like them, but they aren't as exciting as your other Lake Michigan shore pix.

A very challenging subject is the forest, IMO.  I quite like the first one, it's both representational and abstract, and captures the feel of woods in winter.

For me, #1 is the best but I also like the last one.

The fourth's main elements are just fantastic (somewhat like one as well). The rhythm of tree and bark, color, and tone of the trees...special moment in time. That said, I'm not quite sure about the small branch elements in lower rt. corner...I go back and forth on this. Slight adjustments in framing etc. might help.  /B

I kept seeing pictures of trees here and elsewhere and I really considered this as a challenge, can I do something similar and not purely cliche? These shots are the closest to my goal by far and thus my strong desire to some comments as I learned my objectivity in photography is not my strongest asset.

I was trying to achieve a frame, particularly on the second so the view is drawn to the center where the point of interest is. I do have few with the trees not as close but when I look my eyes want to wander too much on those sides so I decided to force the viewer to look where I wanted.

I already cloned a similar branch on the left lower corner but for some reason that on the right didn't bother me that much, I get the impression the area will feel empty if I clone it away.

All in all thank you for the comments.
These shots along with my other 2 topics (snow and shore, lake Michigan) were taken in a 2 hour span, probably some of my most productive 2 hours in photography.

I agree, that was my reaction when I saw them the first time. The thing is, the motif itself is quite common. While being "better than your usual," they are not more exciting than the usual. As a progress on your own journey, they are quite valid.
