New Rantatorial exposure on the front page
« on: February 19, 2015, 10:00:43 pm »

I have enjoyed these, but I keep missing them (although fun to catch up) , because other than the small “updated x hours/days ago” there is no mention when a new one is posted on the front page.

Even though they are more directed toward personal opinions so perhaps not “articles” per say, I wonder if they should be listed in the recent article section or some other method of calling attention to the posting of a new one?

just a thought ...

I've just had the same problem. Some sort of alert would be nice.

You will eventually be part of the RSS Feed but for now you have to check the alert under the home page picture.  They really are separate from Article and such.

Would also love to have them more prominently featured on the homepage;

I have enjoyed these, but I keep missing them ...

I have LuLa ( the homepage) indexed in my RSS reader - the articles show up, on cue without a problem.

Note to Kevin & Michael:
Likewise for 'Recent Posts' in the Forum. The only issue here is that it's limited to the 5 latest posts.
Perhaps worth increasing to a more reasonable 20 ?

Rantatorials are being set up as RSS Feeds.  I'll see if the set up for the most recent are in our hands and up the number if possible.  That also might be a preference in the RSS reader.  I'll check on my end.

We are having discussions on how to make Rants more obvious on the home page.  We can put a flashing menu or badge for example.  Rants are not articles thus we wanted them to be separate.  We'll come up with something.

Kevin,

FYI on my RSS reader rants are listed -  intertwined chronologically - with the main articles. It' seems to work fine at my end.(*)
The 'Recent Posts' is a separate feed and yes, there is a preferences setting (NetNewsWire) but the shortest is 10 and the longest 100 (not recommended). I'm set on 20.

More than 'fine' , please don't change this.

OK...good to know it's working.

I am looking at putting a list of the most recent rants under the related article section on the home page.  Maybe that will help too.
