Tamron 150-600 on A7 Mark II
« on: February 19, 2015, 04:02:06 pm »

As a Sony A7 Mark II owner I read your review on the Tamron 150-600 with great interest. One thing I'm curious about is whether the LA4 adapter provided the camera with the focal length being used or did you have to enter that manually through the menu? Thanks in advance for your response.

Focal length information is passed automatically between the lens, the LE-A4 and the camera.

Helpful review. Thank you.

As the Tamron 150-600 has vibration control, I am interested in whether it worked well with the A7II's IBIS, or whether you had to turn it off and rely solely on IBIS. Any idea how well the Tamron VC works when the on a body without IBIS?

I have read that in several places, though I am not sure I have read it in reviews by people who have tried the lens, but stores that sell it, at least two that I have read carefully, definitely say that the Sony version does have VC. Maybe they have cut and pasted from some generic (Canon/Nikon!) description, but I would have thought they were legally on dodgy ground claiming this if it were not true and would have been more careful. It would surely give anyone a reason to return a lens if they did not like it on grounds of misleading advertising (at least it would in the UK). Perhaps I had better keep a copy of the website so that if I don't like the lens when it comes, I have grounds for returning it!

That sounds like a good idea, B&H and some of the swedish stores im browsing states that it dosent have VC. Maybe the Sigma 150-600 is the better choice if you want VC, but then you would have to use a Canon version with Metabones adapter, resulting in a slower af. I dont know how slow though, im thinking of this combo for my a7r, mainly for nature and slow objects.
