27" iMac (May 2011) and Spyder4Pro
« on: February 17, 2015, 07:13:28 am »

Hello,

I just want to confirm that others have successfully calibrated their iMac with a Spyder4Pro. I am working through the common noob issue of "prints too dark" leveraging DigitalDog's paper (thank you) and I just want to make sure there are not any issues/suggestions/tips that I need to be aware of as I start to ensure that my iMac is calibrated correctly with the above combination.

Any suggestions or gotchas to be aware of would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

I dont use a Spyder but keep in mind that the 'suggested' starting point the mfgr. gives are often too much.  I think they recommend something like 140 cd/m2 and for many/most people, that is just overly bright (leading to 'prints too dark').  So start at a more modest 110 (depending on the ambient) and something like 300:1 contrast.  You may also find D65/6500 temp. too 'blue' (I use 5500).  There is no one universal correct set of values.
