Target print densities and saturation on Epson 9900 vs. 11880
« on: February 16, 2015, 04:52:32 pm »

We recently got a new Epson 9900 in addition to our 11880.
When starting to make custom profiles we noticed that printet targets do appear to be a lot less saturated, almost pale, on the 9900 as opposed to the 11880 with identical media settings on both printers. That's most evident in the cyan, magenta and yellow range, all looking much lighter than they would print from the 11880. Although black density is similar on both.
At first glance I was suspecting a software issue or some kind of double profiling beeing involved. But the color gamut of the resulting profiles is just fine, even better in bright tones on the 9900.
Is this just normal behavior of the HDR inkset, or should my target prints look quite close to what we get from the 11880?
