Yes. After getting used to all modern phones even the cheap ones have hidef display, h5d's screen resolution and colors suck big times. Outdoor you cannot even say if it's under or overexposed without looking at the histogram. Tethering is not an option at many times outdoor.
Before their excuse was "we cannot get the parts", the reality is not only that they don't want to pay the $10 per screen and deal with the case integration issues and retool for the casing, but they would need to locate a camera screen specialist consultant, do the board 2 or 3 times etc. whie they find out the hard way about any hardware issues, and then do the recertification for the FCC and EC labels.
There's a reason one calls certification a "Non-Tariff Barrier". Large companies love rules and regulations, their existence is a competitive advantage.
I'd expect a screen change at the next major revision of their back casings. Which may be due when they move to USB tethering and HDMI liveview. Or maybe they'll just get rid of the screen and add an iPhone clip.
