storing paper rolls

Who has a clever convenient way to store paper rolls?
I'm using three different kinds of 24" roll paper and finding it awkward to have to move rolls in and out of boxes every day. I'm thinking of mounting some brackets on the wall so I can quickly hang a roll of paper after threading a wooden dowel through it. Perhaps hanging a sheet of black plastic over the whole affair will shield the rolls from light and dust.

Any better ideas out there before I commit to a couple hour project?

The cleverest but least pretty solution I have seen for that is to screw a row of plastic roll-end shipping supports to a long plank, then cover the vertical rolls with left over media boxes with one of the ends cut off.  Very important that the rolls are wound tight to prevent sagging, and make sure the screw heads are placed to not mar the ends of the rolls thereby causing head strikes.  In the deluxe version the plank is placed on a table or very sturdy shelf rather than on the floor.
