Ireland
« on: February 02, 2015, 10:18:59 pm »

One of my favorite areas of Ireland to photograph was the Connemara area of western Ireland. And, I found out just about a month ago that Aer Lingus' in-flight magazine, CARA, chose an image I made for their "Wish you were here" segment - a two-page spread. The magazine was available on Sunday and online today.

I think it's a goal of many to get published. Outside of my small hometown paper, this is the the first that I'd call a tear sheet.

I have been in Connemara this last summer, only one night, but it looked like a place with a lot of potential, as your image shows, congrats!!!

Thanks, all. I was as shocked (and excited) as anyone when I found out. It's a bloody fantastic place to spend time with a camera (and a nice person).

A lovely lovely part of Ireland, as is most of the west and yet something like 80% of tourists to Ireland never get beyond Dublin!! Last time I was out that way I was helping marshal a cycle race so didn't get the chance to take many photos but some great biking roads, so that was some compensation, especially as the Gardai were looking the other way as we whooped around getting back in front of the pack. Cong Abbey is also a must when up that way as is Lough Corrib which never fails to reveal something if you ease off the pace and take it easy.
