Canon 7D rolling shutter speed - 1/444
« on: January 31, 2015, 07:00:25 am »

Thanks to a video where the Canon 7D shutter has been recorded at a high speed (10000fps): Inside a Camera at 10,000fps - The Slow Mo Guys, I felt curious about estimating the camera's rolling shutter speed geometrically:

If 118 pixels on that image correspond to 1/500s of exposure, it takes to each mechanical shutter to run along the entire sensor: 1/500*133/118=1/444s. That would be the 7D's rolling shutter speed, enough to freeze without distortion moving objects in general real world situations but not that impressive.

Regards
