Logos on buildings can't appear in city scapes?
« on: January 28, 2015, 07:43:37 am »

I had posted a few NYC panoramas on a photography site and was asked to remove any Identifying logos from the photos. Pardon my ignorance, but is it illegal to sell a photo of a building that has a logo on it?

Depends on the purpose you are selling it for. How are you selling it?

Without seeing the photo, my impression is that the site is being overly-cautious. I wouldn't hesitate to publish a panorama of a cityscape that happened to show logos on buildings as long as the image did not single out and emphasis a specific logo or imply or infer any special meaning to a specific logo. Context is important. I'm not a lawyer.

My stock agency, ImageBrief, has a well-illustrated article about trademarks in commercial use:

Thank you Slobodan, I had originally posted to 500px. Until they complained about trade marks, then I deleted all of them.
